In our childhood years, most of us played Street Fighter.
I remembered when I was child I used to play it using my Super Nintendo with my neighbor.
I get to beat him a lot and I felt I was the best in the world.. ðŸ¤
But what does it really mean to be the best.. the best in the world.
Daigo Umehara AKA "The beast", widely considered as the most famous and the World's Greatest Street Fighter player.
He mainly got the title "The beast" due to the sudden explosiveness play he had which was enough to win the game in a tight situation plus adding with his emotionless facial expression afterwards.

He holds 2 Guinness book of record, which was "Most views for a competitive fighting game match" (for his famous match against Justin Wong from Evo 2004)
and "Highest all-time rank in Ultra Street Fighter IV.
But what made him famous is what happened on Evo 2004 Tournament.
He met with his rival Justin Wong in the loser's Final.
During that time, Daigo was using Ken and Justin was using Chun Li.
It was an intense match and Justin has the upper hand.
Ken barely have a pixel of life bar left and then Justin used the "Super Art" move to seal the deal.
Everybody was shock, Daigo was able to parried all 15 hits and manage to come back with a counter combo in which turns the table and gave him the win.
To give you a quick perspective on how parry works, it can be only done by perfectly timing an attack with a parry block in which negates damage completely.
Seems simple right? look at the Youtube clip below and see it for your self.
He also beat Alex Valle in 1998 at Street Fighter Alpha 3 in which Alex during that time was considered as Mr. Street Fighter due to the finest game play and aggressive combos.
What separate Daigo from other players is his level of concentration and the ability to adapt fast in a tight situation.
If you carefully watch his games, he seems like carefully calculating the next move of his opponent then giving a counter attack combo enough to clear out the life bar of his opponent.
As of the moment, Daigo at 39 is still active in competing Street Fighter Tournaments.
Below are his best finishes.
